This Saturday, 23rd December, we will host a game in memory of Rob Smyth, who died in August.
The purpose, as well as to remember and honour the great man, will also raise funds for the campaign for Dignity in Dying.
Rob and his young family emigrated to Australia in 2020 to start a new adventure, full of hope for the future. Unfortunately, the following year, he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, despite never having smoked.
In August of this year, 4 days before his 40th Birthday, Rob bravely chose to utilise Australia’s new laws on assisted dying to tell his cancer to “Do one!”
His wife Tess, and his boys Ethan 7, and Jack 4, will be here for the game on Saturday, along with Rob’s local family.
There will be many players taking part including some returning from other pastures.
There will be a raffle on the day to raise funds so it would be fantastic to as many club members as possible.
The KO is hoped to be at 2.45
Early evening we will also have our annual Carols with Ware Brass providing the music.
