A mixed side of mostly tourists met a Datchworth side loaded with 6 Hertford players on the main club pitch on a bright but deceptively cold Sunday morning.
There was a surprisingly high turnout from the home side, as Pitchero had indicated 20 players and by 10:30 28 players had turned up! Even giving Datchworth 6 players made replacements difficult as we had a large number of back replacements and no forward replacements - so apologies to those who had less match time that we'd have liked.
The game was well contested throughout and the scoreline flattered the home side as Datchworth were often quicker to the breakdown and out rucked Hertford on numerous occasions. This weekend however belonged to our three quarters, who were able to dominate the contact areas with a combination of direct running and real pace. At times we made things hard for ourselves with missed scoring opportunities and some questionable decision-making but overall an excellent squad performance. Special thanks to the boys who played for Datchworth and enabled us to have a match.
Easter Break
There will be no training on Weds or Sunday of this week, we will return to train on Weds 24th April.
Twickenham 10s - Saturday 27th April
We have two mixed sides entered for the Twickenham 10-a-side tournament. All players are invited to play. I know some boys will be unable to play due to school commitments, so it's doubly important that we select the two sides ASAP and give them some time at training together on 24th April. Please respond to Pitchero this week please.
There will be NO RUGBY on Sun 28th, but do feel free to come up to the club and watch the County Finals - our own U16s are in the final, I know that Darron and the boys would love your support.
Enjoy the Easter rest and all that chocolate and I look forward to seeing you on Weds the 24th
