It was the County Cup semi final all the boys wanted to play and after a false start following the arctic chill last week we kicked off promptly at 10am. The Hertford forwards had all the possession in the first part of the game and eventually an infringement inside Datchworth's 22m line under the posts was rewarded with a penalty goal from Shakir Millais to get 3 points on the board.
With both sides probing the defensive lines no-one was able to get through until in the 19th minute Datchworth got over the line in the corner for a try. The 3-5 score reflected the close competition. Once again our forwards kept driving up the pitch and with a final shove Will Howell scored for Hertford to take the score into half time at 8-5.
Four minutes into the second half unrelenting pressure from our forwards saw Tom Baker over the line converted by Will to go 15-5. From then on neither side was able to prevail despite good runs down the wing by Shakir, Will and Lewis Broom all closed down by good tackling from Datchworth. Similarly our tackling kept the opposition out to give us a hard fought win.
Well done to all the boys and book 29th April in your diaries for the Cup Final at OAs.
